Job Description

We are recruiting a Medical advisor for our Aberdeen client, this role is working 4 days per week and will have occasional offshore visits.

Role and Accountabilities:
• Executes the following functions.
• Medical advice on control and management of COVID-19 at onshore and offshore locations, providing proposals to Operational Management regarding any changes and longer-term strategy
• Managing general clinical guidance across all company sites both onshore and offshore
• Process referrals from OGUK doctors re clearance / approval process for fitness to work on company assets, for contractors with significant health issues; liaise with medics re same
• Revision of Medical Standing Orders (MSO’s) and Medic formulary against industry standards, legislative requirements and evidence based good practice and review of controlled drug registers
• Development and management of a training and competency assurance including annual assessment of medical competence and annual appraisal
• Review of Occupational Health Management Plan document
• Review and manage Health Surveillance Report
• Review of Emergency Manual: Aeromedical Evacuation
• Medic / MSA support re: clinical queries, declared medication queries, response to treatment and review plans, occupational health screening reviews, including referrals to GPs where appropriate, review emergency response team fitness tests; providing clinical updates and medical news
• Review medic/MSA patient notes in offshore medical database and provide feedback
• Regular advisory service; sickness absence management; return to work fitness assessments; fitness for offshore reviews; case management onshore and offshore employees; liaising with GPs and specialist where required; advice re training and other medical needs
• Review of controlled drug registers
• Responsible Officer for medics nursing revalidation process
• Monitor and review medications, materials and equipment requisitioning by medics
• Proactively advise on any specific changes to health and safety legislation, occupational health legislation regulations and issues, which could affect your employees, and provide strategic guidance to the team
• Attend medical, industrial or government meetings on your behalf and report back findings

Key Interfaces:
• Proactively facilitates enhanced collaboration and interaction with the EHS Management and offshore medics/MSAs
• Interact with companies providing OH support advice and Topside support to company
• Interface with core subcontractors to follow up on medical related issues/concerns
• Interface with applicable industry organisations as and when required (e.g., Oil and Gas UK, Step Change in Safety

Desired Qualities/Qualifications

Essential
• Medical doctor with full GMC registration and current licence to practice
• Experience in providing OH advice within oil and gas industry
• Relevant experience in Occupational Health
• Medical Advisory experience
• Maintain professional standards and CPD in accordance with current legislation and practices
• Strong team player who is also capable of producing quality work on an individual basis
• Excellent communication, organisational and facilitation skills
