Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join our client’s Portable Power team based in Portlethen. This role involves supporting and servicing generator products and clients across Europe, both onshore and offshore.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality installations, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of diesel-driven generators and associated equipment. Travel to customer sites at short notice is required.

Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent

Key Responsibilities
• Carry out operations on rental and sales packages in line with company procedures, including:
• Scheduled maintenance
• Repairs
• Enhancements and refurbishment
• P&ID walkdowns
• Electrical completion checks
• Factory acceptance testing (FAT)
• Function and loop checks
• Instrument checks
• Site acceptance testing (SAT)
• Liaise with Workshop Supervisors, Project Teams, Management, Clients, and Vendors regarding operational activities
• Prepare, review, and complete work orders as required
• Provide after-sales support, including inspections, spare parts advice, and technical recommendations
• Collaborate with engineering departments when necessary
• Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota to provide service support

Desired Qualities/Qualifications

Essential:
• Strong electrical knowledge within installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance environments (including offshore)
• Ability to interpret and mark up engineering drawings

Desirable:
• Experience with Deep Sea control systems
• PLC programming skills
• Experience with engines such as Cummins, Iveco, and Perkins
• Knowledge of diesel and gas-driven generators

Qualifications

Essential:
• Offshore certifications (e.g. BOSIET, MIST, OGUK Medical)
• Willingness to travel onshore and offshore at short notice
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Flexible approach to working hours, including participation in an on-call rota

Desirable:
• City & Guilds 2382-18 (18th Edition)
• City & Guilds HV Switching & System Control (0672)
• COMPEX certification
