Job Description

Our client based in Dyce Aberdeen are looking for a Machinist (Turner) to join their team on a staff basis. The role is based Monday – Friday with overtime when required.
Job Description
• Setting up and operation of Horizontal / Vertical Lathes as directed by Supervisor
• Ensure that all procedures/paperwork is completed, kept up to date and signed off when required
• Aptitude and willingness to assist with streamlining and improving overall manufacturing efficiencies and process to reduce overall direct labour costs
• Working to COSHH regulations, risk assessments and work procedures
• Stamping and deburring components appropriately
• Takes ownership and accountability for own work and accurately describe events during quality related investigations to aide supervisor in understanding root cause analysis where required
• Report any variances in job routing times as soon as identified to supervisor
• Being able to perform inprocess inspection work on own without assistance
• Ensuring all company polices surrounding, health & safety, quality requirements and housekeeping are met.
• Ensuring equipment is maintained in good working order and faults reported immediately to Supervisor
• Ensuring own safety and safety of others and assisting with company “GOAL ZERO” target
• Demonstrate desire and willingness to promote and ensure 6S principles are adhered to
• Assisting with training as required by Supervisor
• Self-motivated with a positive can-do attitude
• Ability to operate various machines competently
• Committed to self-improvement and development through the role to achieve career goals

Desired Qualities/Qualifications

• Time served in Mechanical Engineering (Preferred) or Semi-skilled in Mechanical Engineering
• Abrasive wheels
• Lifting and slinging
• Manual handling
• Previous experience of setting and running CNC Horizontal or Vertical Lathes
• Previous experience working within a Manufacturing environment
• Use of industrial measuring equipment
• Knowledge of imperial measuring scale
• Health and Safety awareness
• Knowledge of Fanuc control systems
• Understanding of tooling geometry
• Ability to work shift patterns
• Flexible attitude to working overtime
